Talk Shirin Neshat and Bartolomeo Pietromarchi

From May 18 to November 2, 2025, MAC’s – Musée des Arts Contemporains in Grand-Hornu hosts Objects for People, the first solo museum exhibition in Belgium by American artist Haim Steinbach. For over four decades, Steinbach has explored the cultural and aesthetic value of everyday objects through a distinctive approach based on selection, display, and context. His practice has played a key role in redefining the object in contemporary art. The exhibition features a wide range of works spanning the artist’s career, including two historic projects developed in collaboration with renowned Belgian collectors: An Offering: Collectibles of Jan Hoet (1992) An Offering: Collectibles of Herman Daled (2000)

Galleria Lia Rumma is pleased to host a talk between artist Shirin Neshat and curator Bartolomeo Pietromarchi on Friday 17 May 2025 at 6.00pm at the gallery's Milan space. The conversation will focus on "Do U Dare!", Neshat’s latest film, presented for the first time at the gallery. The discussion will explore the development of the work and its connection to the artist’s ongoing research across different media, including film, photography and installation. The talk offers a chance to engage directly with the artist’s reflections on process, language and the relationship between image and narrative.

We are pleased to announce that Domenico Antonio Mancini is among the artists featured in "Le Divisament dou Monde: Italian Drawings on the Far East", the new exhibition by Fondazione Garuzzo at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou.The show opens on 8 May 2025 and marks the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo’s death through a series of works on paper that explore the influence of East Asia on contemporary Italian art. Through his contribution, Domenico Antonio Mancini reflects on the act of drawing as a site of observation, mediation and transformation—a visual language where forms of distance, identity and representation intersect.

We are pleased to announce “Drama 1882”, Wael Shawky’s new operatic film, presented at Albert Hall, Brussels as part of Kunstenfestivaldesarts. First shown at the 2024 Venice Biennale, Drama 1882 brings together video, sculpture and staged re-enactment to question the reliability of historical records. The eight-part Arabic-language opera reconstructs the Urabi revolt in Egypt (1879–1882), following Colonel Ahmed Urabi’s campaign against colonial rule. Filmed in a theatre in Alexandria, the work proposes a reflection on narrative, conflict and the construction of history.

The exhibition La Maison est là où tout commence, hosted at Geneva’s Maison Tavel, features works by 26 women artists exploring the theme of migration not only as trauma, but as transformation through cultural fusion. The concept of “home” — remembered, lost, or reinvented — is central, with artworks made from symbolic materials like glass, porcelain, and textiles. Among the artists, Marina Abramović stands out for her radical exploration of identity, body, and belonging. Her participation elevates the exhibition’s message, connecting the deeply personal to the universally political. Abramović, known for her performance-based work, embodies the displacement and resilience that define the migrant experience. The show combines irony, memory, and dreamlike visions to reflect on how migration reshapes art and life. Curated by Adelina von Fürstenberg, it celebrates women’s voices and cultural hybridity.
